Hopkins vs. Wayzata

5:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 22

Hopkins handed Wayzata its only loss of the season in a 69-66 thriller on Feb. 1. The rematch comes three weeks later, and many eyes will be focused on Friday's bout.

In their first meeting, Wayzata quickly jumped to 16-4 lead with Mara Braun scoring 11 of her 12 points early. Kallie Theisen and Jenna Johnson, who scored 20 and 21 points respectively, did the heavy lifting for the No. 2-4A Trojans (23-1, 5-1), but in end, it wasn't enough as they couldn't contain No. 1-4A Hopkins' standout star, Paige Bueckers, who scored a career-high 43 points.

Players like Dlayla Chakolis (13.8 ppg; 7.3 rebounds per game) and Amaya Battle (9 ppg, 4.7 assists per game, 2.8 steals per game) bolster the offense for the Royals (25-0, 7-0), who should be well-prepared with only one game this week. The downtime allows players and coaches to make any adjustments before the rematch.
