Eden Valley-Watkins

vs. Annandale

6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 14

Eden Valley-Watkins begins the week with a chance to finish the regular season undefeated, but the No. 3-2A Eagles may not just soar through their four remaining regular-season games. Annandale awaits Eden Valley-Watkins on Thursday and this matchup promises to result in some feathers flying.

Eden Valley-Watkins (20-0, 12-0) has won seven games by 40 or more points behind a slate of contributors. None have been bigger than Emma Schultz, who's scored in bunches, including a season-high 34 points in an 87-54 win over Melrose on Jan. 15.

Annandale is likely motivated to cage the Eagles and bring their winning streak to a screeching halt. The No. 10-2A Cardinals (15-3, 8-0) are looking to bounce back after falling to Becker 73-57 last week — a defeat that snapped a nine-game winning streak.

Annandale's versatility on offense should be a factor on Thursday. The Cardinals have had nine players score 10 or more points in a game this season, and they’ll need more than one to score in double digits when facing an Eagles squad that has outscored opponents by nearly 350 points on the season.

Cardinals' leading scorer Hannah Purcell (16.7 ppg) will be expected to lead the way, while senior forward Taylor Medvec (11.5 ppg) could be the complementary player Annandale needs to step up to pull off the upset.
