Pelican Rapids started the season with a five-game winning streak, and it begins this week winners of 12 straight. The only hiccup on the schedule was a 46-34 loss to Hawley on Dec. 18.
The No. 5-1A Vikings (17-1, 7-1) will be looking for payback on Tuesday when heading to Hawley, where a victory will result in Pelican Rapids taking a two-game advantage atop the Heart O’Lakes Conference standings.
Pelican Rapids' Kaylie Isaman climbed to the 1,000 career-point plateau after scoring six in a 52-42 victory over Crookston on Feb. 2. Greta Tollefson led the Vikings with 17 points and Adriana Torres added 11 in the win.
Hawley has hopes it can capture a conference championship banner, and a second win over the Vikings would position the Nuggets (12-3, 6-2) just a half-game back in the standings with two weeks remaining in the regular season.
The Nuggets could use a big game from Paige Thompson, who has had multiple games this season with 25 or more points, including a season-high 28 in a 67-47 win on Dec. 11 against Wadena-Deer Creek.
