DeLaSalle vs. Holy Angels

7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 17

Since the Tri-Metro Conference split into two divisions after the 2013-14 season, DeLaSalle and Holy Angels have dominated the West Division. It's difficult to imagine the same scenario playing out this year.

DeLaSalle has started this season with a similar record to last year, when it rebounded from losing its first four games by winning 13 straight. The Islanders finished the regular season 16-8 and made the Class 3A state tournament.

DeLaSalle was 4-4 before going on a three-game winning streak, including a 77-26 conference romping over Columbia Heights on Jan. 11, to climb above .500.

Nora Francois is one reason why the Islanders (7-4, 1-0) are trending upward. After a knee injury ended her freshman season prematurely, Francois has avoided the sophomore slump this season and scored a season-high 11 points against Columbia Heights.

Holy Angels is hoping to replicate its conference success from 2017 and 2016, when it finished with identical 6-0 league marks. Francesca Vascellaro and her 21.8 points per game leads for four players averaging more than 10 ppg in a potent offense powering the Stars (11-2, 0-0).
