New Ulm vs. Hutchinson

7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 20

In the past seven seasons, Hutchinson has dominated New Ulm, winning the seven games by an average of 25.1 points. In last season's meeting, however, Hutchinson won a more modest 76-67 contest.

As a sophomore, Joey Batt scored 22 points in that loss for New Ulm (18-5, 7-3), and has had a great junior season for the No. 15-3A Eagles, averaging 26.1 ppg — ninth-best in the state. Now she’ll look to end the long losing streak against the No. 9-3A Tigers with road victory on Tuesday.

The Tigers (18-6, 8-1) have secured the Wright County East Division title with a game in hand. They will likely be the No. 1-seed in the Class 3A, Section 6 tournament, and they’ll hope that it brings more success than last year's loss to Orono in the section final.

MaKenzie Rensch scored a game-high 18 points in Hutchinson's win against New Prague last Friday. It was her team's 11th victory in 12 games.
