Lakeville North vs. Centennial

7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 7

Last week's Top Games featured No. 3-4A Lakeville North against No. 4-4A Minnetonka, a matchup that went the Panthers' way.

Here is No. 3-ranked Lakeville North in another contest with the fourth-ranked team in Class 4A, only this time the opponent is Centennial.

The Panthers defeated the Skippers 73-63 last Thursday, led by Lauren Jensen and Analiese Tschida, who combined for 44 points. They are two of the five Lakeville North players who have scored 18 or more points in a game this season.

The Panthers (2-1) are coming off a stinging 72-71 loss to No. 5-4A Wayzata despite 20 points from Tschmida.

Though the Cougars missed the state tournament a year ago, they entered the season ranked high because they return three players who averaged 10 points or more per game, including Sara Stapleton. Now a junior, Stapleton — who scored 14.8 points per game last winter — looks to build upon that this season.

The Cougars (0-1) opened their season Saturday with a 84-68 loss to No. 1-4A Hopkins. Stapleton had 13 points while junior forward Taylor McAulay, another returner, scored 20.
