St. Michael-Albertville vs. Eastview

11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 2

Another matchup featuring top 10 teams makes our list, as No. 9-4A St. Michael-Albertville opens its season against No. 2-4A Eastview on Saturday.

Eastview kicked off its season in the Pat Paterson Tournament at Hamline University, dominating its opponents.

The Lightning (2-0) defeated White Bear Lake 61-44 on Nov. 24 and rolled defending Class 3A champion Orono 66-27 the next day.

Eastview will not play another game until meeting St. Michael-Albertville, so both teams should be rested.

Although tired legs may be the least of their concerns come Saturday.

Both teams graduated their leading scorers from a season ago, meaning they’re looking for new offensive leaders.

For the Lightning, that may be senior Megan Walstead, who averaged 11.3 points per game last season, which was third-best on the team. She's making a solid case to be the focal point, averaging 20 points in Eastview's two wins.

For the Knights, it will most likely be sophomore Makenzie Kramer, who averaged 11 ppg last season.
