Shakopee at Eastview
7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 19

Eastview picked up a huge road win as the No. 4-4A Lightning upset No. 3-4A St. Michael-Albertville 73-66 on Jan. 16, setting up an even bigger matchup with South Suburban Conference foe No.2-4A Shakopee on Tuesday.

A Kansas State commit, junior Rachel Ranke posts 16.6 ppg and has Eastview (13-1, 6-0) looking for another state tournament trip despite a new coach (Molly Kasper) and a young core, albeit experienced, which also features fellow junior Allie Pickrain (11.8 ppg) and sophomore Megan Walstad (10.1 ppg)

The Sabers (12-0, 6-0) have two impressive wins over league rivals No. 5-4A Lakeville North (68-62) and No. 10-4A Apple Valley (60-43) in the past two weeks, led of course, by North Carolina commit Taylor Koenen (19.2 ppg), who finished with a season-high 26 and 22 points, respectively.

Koenen does more than just score, as the senior also averages 8.1 rebounds per game, and is flanked by senior and Southwest Minnesota State commit Caleigh Rodning (11.9 ppg) and junior Mateya Hutton (9.8 ppg).

Shakopee will need to rely on its depth as the Sabers face No. 9-4A White Bear Lake in the Minnesota Fury MLK Day Classic showcase at St. Catherine University in St. Paul on Monday before heading to Eastview on Tuesday.
