Eastview will defend its Class 4A title at the girls’ basketball state tournament.

The Lightning defeated Rosemount on Thursday 56-37 in the Class 4A, Section 3 final at Hamline University, marking its fourth straight appearance in the state tournament.

Eastview won despite senior guard Madison Guebert struggling from the floor. She had a scoreless first half but finished with 14 points. The Lightning relied instead on senior forward Samantha Trammel, who had a dominant first half and finished with 19 points.

The Irish attempted a second half comeback, drawing within seven at one point, until Guebert found her rhythm and scored the majority of her points late in the game. Sophomore guard Rach Ranke also contributed 15 points.

Senior guard Liz Evenocheck finished with 15 points for the Irish.
