St. Michael-Albertville at Elk River
7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 12
St. Michael-Albertville's calling card is defense, but the No. 3-4A Knights (17-2) can score points as well, with a trio of guards leading the way. Senior Bobbi Brendefur (15.6 points per game), sophomore Rae Johnson (12.3 ppg) and junior Sydney Tracy (11.8 ppg) have St. Michael-Albertville averaging 69.6 ppg.
No. 6-4A Elk River (16-2) counters with junior center Abi Scheid (17.9 ppg), who could give the Knights a matchup nightmare in the paint. Sophomore guard Gabi Haack (15.7 ppg) leads a solid backcourt for the Elks.
St. Michael-Albertville has not lost since a 71-70 defeat to No. 7-4A Edina on Dec. 30, a run of 11 games.
Elk River only has two losses: No. 8-4A Rochester John Marshall 60-52 in the season opener on Dec. 6 and No. 4-4A Minnetonka 78-73 on Jan. 29.
The Knights defeated the Elks 75-66 in last season's Section 8 championship.
