Minnetonka at Orono
7:15 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 13

Minnetonka is on a seven-game winning streak that helped it climb to the No. 2 ranking in Class 4A. Orono is undefeated and recently ascended to the top spot in the Class 3A rankings. One team won't be on an upward trajectory after the Skippers and Spartans meet on Jan. 13.

Minnetonka (12-1) boasts a three-pronged offensive attack featuring senior guard Caroline Shelquist (10.5 ppg) and junior forwards Courtney Fredrickson (16.8 ppg) and Lizzie Odegard (10.2 ppg). The Skippers' most underrated player may be junior guard Hannah Hedstrom, who averages 9.8 ppg but showed off her scoring touch with a season-high 21 points in a 79-55 win over White Bear Lake on Jan. 10.

Orono is 14-0 thanks to the exceptional play of its backcourt. Sophomore guard Tori Andrew (14.2 ppg), senior guard Kiera Nelson (12.6 ppg) and junior guard Danielle Jorgenson (11.7 ppg) are the catalysts, enabling the Spartans to outscore their opponents by 16 ppg.

Nelson finished with 17 points, Jorgensen had 10 and Andrew added nine in Orono's 85-35 victory over Zimmerman on Jan. 9.
