Game Description

The Millers seize control of the Minneapolis City Conference by defeating neighborhood rival Southwest High School. The game was close early and then the Lady Millers made a break for it and ran off to a 20 point lead. The Lady Lakers were able to trim the deficit to 15 by half but the Lady Millers had the contest well in hand, so they thought. Coming out from the halftime break the teams traded punches until the Millers pulled away seemingly taking ultimate control with as much as a 22 point lead. But Southwest Junior, Naja Woods was not having any part of that business. Woods poured in a season high 37 points trying to will her team to will her team to victory in the hostile confines of the Washburn "Mill". But a "Triple Double" from Washburn's Chase Coley (22pts, 22reb, 11blks), 13 points from both Audrey DeVaughn and Lucia Renikoff on an outstanding combined 75% shooting effort held off the fight of the Lakers and secured the Miller victory. The Millers are now 6-0 and in first place in the conference for the time since the 1984-85 season. Congratulations Lady Millers, keep playing hard and finish the job.
