GIRLS BASKETBALL

Winter has come, and it is finally time for basketball. The boys' and girls' basketball teams go into the season with very different circumstances and goals. The boys look primed for State,while the girls are focused more on building as a team and improving from last year. There is a lot of excitement in the air for the seasons. Let’s take a look at what the leaders of the teams have to say about their last senior season.
Rebecca Walk: senior Heritage Girls Basketball, Captain
Credentials: 2011-2012 leading scorer with 204 points and led in average with 8.5 points per game. Made a team high 27 threes and was third on the team in three point percentage at .310 while leading the team in free throw percentage at .578 clip and also was second on the team in steals with 116 on the year.
Q. What are your expectations for this season?
A, Get to the semifinals in sections,which is how far we made it last year.
Q. Any new players that will be fun to watch?
A. Our whole varsity team is returning players-- we have a really solid base.
Q. What will be your keys to victory this year?
A. Packing in on defense and stopping the shooters from the outside and raising shooting percentage.
Q. This being your senior season, what has this team meant to you over the years?
A. The team has gotten me through being in high school. I have such a family in all of them. It is one big family
Q. You have had several coaches through your years. How has your current coach Erin done leading this team?
A. Because of her age, she knows how to relate to us girls and bond with us. We can be close to her and trust her with things personal to us and we can trust her on the court.
Q.Finally, anything else you want to say to your fans?
A.I am so excited for the season!
