Player of the Week candidates for Feb. 27-March 4

Player of the Week candidates

Alyssa Daugherty, Zimmerman. The sophomore guard posted 31 points in a 74-67 overtime win over Becker in section semifinal play.

Sam Haiby, Moorhead. The junior guard tallied 31 points, eight rebounds and three assists in a 77-69 win over St. Michael-Albertville. The Spuds play Elk River for the Class 4A, Section 8 championship on Thursday.

McKenna Hofschild, Prior Lake. The sophomore guard contributed 34 points in a 89-81 win over Chaska. She is ranked ninth in the state for total points, with 607.

Alayna Johnson, Dassel-Cokato. The senior center averages 17.8 points per game. In a 69-55 loss to Hutchinson, she put up 30 points, 10 rebounds and a pair of assists.

Rae Johnson, St. Michael-Albertville. The senior guard posted 32 points, three rebounds and 2 assists in a 69-62 win over Brainerd in the first round of sections.

Tori Nelson, Henry Sibley. Despite a 91-49 loss to Apple Valley, the sophomore forward recorded 28 points, 10 rebounds and a pair of assists.

Meleah Reinhart, New Ulm. The senior guard is ranked first in the state for total points, with 716. She scored 34 points in a 74-34 win over Worthington. The Eagles take on Waseca for the Class 3A, Section 2 championship against Waseca on Thursday.

Lindsey Theuninck, Mankato Loyola. The senior guard put up 33 points in a huge 75-27 victory over Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton, as well as another 33 points in a 71-57 loss to Springfield.

Makayla Van Nett, St. Paul Como Park. The junior guard posted 41 points and three rebounds in a 82-71 win over Totino-Grace.

Megan Walker, Minnetonka. The junior guard scored 29 points in a 79-58 win over Prior Lake. The Skippers take on Edina on Thursday in the Class 4A, Section 2 championship.
