Updated girls' basketball state rankings: Feb. 8

Class 4A

Hopkins and Elk River remain the last Class 4A top 10 teams undefeated and hold the top two spots on the rankings, respectively. Elk River won both games this past week by a combined score of 168-87. Senior Gabi Haack ranks third in the state in total points (532) and fourth in average points per game (26.6).

Lakeville North moved up one spot to No. 3 after recording two wins, one of those being a 79-51 defeat of No. 5-4A Apple Valley. Four players scored at least 13 points in the win, with senior Temi Carda leading the offense with 18. The Panthers held Apple Valley to just 17 points in the second half.

Eastview comes in at No. 4, up one spot from last week after a pair of wins. Senior Rachel Ranke leads the Lightning with an average of 15.5 points per game.

Class 3A

Northfield has jumped three spots and overtaken Holy Angels as No. 1 on the Class 3A rankings. The Raiders recorded two wins to improve their record to 17-3.

Hutchinson made the biggest move up the rankings, landing at No. 2 this week after being at No. 8 just one week ago. Hutchinson won all three games they played last week, including a 58-51 win over No. 5-3A Orono.

Holy Angels dropped two spots to No. 3 after losing just its second game of the season, a 76-64 loss to St. Croix Lutheran. Sophomore Destinee Oberg led the Stars with 22 points in the loss and averages 16.3 points per game. Alexandria (No. 4) and Orono (No. 5) also find themselves down two spots from last week.

Winona moved up two spots to No. 9, defeating Owatonna 73-68 in its only game of the week.

Class 2A

The top 5 teams are: No. 1 Roseau, No. 2 Sauk Centre, No. 3 Plainview-Elgin Millville, No. 4 Watertown-Mayer, and No. 5 Pipestone.

Class 1A

The top 5 teams are: No. 1 Mountain Iron-Buhl, No. 2 Goodhue, No. 3 Wheaton-Herman-Norcross, No. 4 Cromwell, and No. 5 Mankato Loyola.
