Twelve of Minnesota's top high school basketball seniors recently earned a nomination for the 2017 McDonald's All American Games.
While none made the final rosters for the annual games -- the 40th for the boys and the 16th for the girls -- held at the United Center in Chicago on March 29, the list shows the state's basketball talent continues to be recognized nationally.
Boys Nominees:
Note: Gary Trent Jr., the former Apple Valley player is now at Prolific Prep in California, made the final roster for the game. Trent Jr. has committed to play for Duke.
Girls Nominees:
To be considered for the McDonald's All American Games, players must be nominated by an official from their high schools or by a representative of the games' selection committee, which includes some of the nation’s top high school basketball coaches and media members.

This year, more than 750 players received a nomination by the committee, which used a series of balloting system votes to finalize the list of 24 boys and 24 girls who made the rosters for the games.

Past Minnesotans to make the final rosters include Tyus Jones (Apple Valley, 2014), Reid Travis (DeLaSalle, 2014), Rashad Vaughn (Findlay College Prep, NV, 2014), Cole Aldrich (Bloomington Jefferson, 2007), Nia Coffey (Hopkins, 2013), Rebekah Dahlman (Braham, 2013) and Tayler Hill (Minneapolis South, 2009).
The games alumni are a who's who of NBA and WNBA stars, including LeBron James, Candace Parker and Kevin Durant.
Both of this year's games can be seen on ESPN.
