Player of the Week candidates for Jan. 9-14

This week's winner

Claire White, Mound Westonka. In a 50-43 victory over Dassel-Cokato, the senior forward tallied 33 points, two rebounds and two assists.

The other candidates

Kiley Borowicz, Roseau. The senior guard recorded 34 points, 12 rebounds and four assists in an 86-61 win over Thief River Falls. Borowicz is sixth in the state for total points (310) and points per game (25.8).

Ava Gonsorowski, Esko. In a 75-51 win over Proctor, the senior guard posted an impressive 36 points.

McKenna Hofschild, Prior Lake. The sophomore guard scored 37 points in a thrilling 89-82 victory over a South Suburban Conference rival No. 3-4A Apple Valley. Hofschild is seventh in the state in total points with 309 this season.

Aliza Karlen, St. Paul Central. The freshman guard dominated against St. Paul Humboldt, scoring 38 points in the Minutemen’s 60-24 victory.

Alethea Kluge, Chisago Lakes. The junior forward tallied 23 points, 13 rebounds and two assists in a 73-63 victory over Cloquet.

Savannah Linkert, North Branch. The junior guard posted 22 points and 10 rebounds in a 61-50 win over Mississippi 8 Conference opponent Princeton.

Sierra Morrow, Minneapolis Edison. In a Minneapolis City Conference showdown with Minneapolis Southwest, the sophomore forward contributed 29 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Tommies to a 42-40 victory.

Sophia Sowada, Little Falls. The junior center had 25 points, 11 rebounds and four assists in a 60-50 loss to Bemidji.

Hannah Wentzlaff, Sibley East. The senior center led the team with 32 points, 15 rebounds and four assists in a 56-49 loss to Tri-City United.
