Player of the Week candidates Dec. 5-9

Natalie Smaron, Orono F/C, senior: No. 8-3A Orono extended its winning streak to five games with three victories last week, including a 70-59 win against Big Lake. Smaron played a major role for the Spartans, recording 21 points and 25 rebounds.

Dlayla Chakolis, Hopkins G, sophomore: The Royals should continue holding the No. 1 ranking in Class 4A following a 83-43 victory over St. Michael-Albertville. Chakolis led Hopkins with 26 points and 10 rebounds in the win.

Gabi Haack, Elk River G, senior: Haack recorded 31 points for No. 4-4A Elk River in its 70-36 win over Irondale. She leads the Elks this season with 28.3 points per game.

Madi Radtke, Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity G, senior: Radtke had an impressive performance for Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity, scoring 38 points in a 70-48 victory over Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted.

McKenna Hofschild, Prior Lake G, sophomore: Hofschild finished with 32 points for Prior Lake in a 76-57 victory over Eden Prairie.

Emma Grothaus, Mahtomedi F, junior: Grothaus scored 33 points for No. 3-3A Mahtomedi in its 81-71 win over Maranatha Christian. Grothaus boasts a team-best 23 points per game this season.

Chelsea Mason, Mountain Iron-Buhl G, senior: In a showdown with Littlefork-Big Falls, No.1-1A Mountain-Iron Buhl secured a 97-82 victory with Mason posting 29 points, seven rebounds and six assists.

Alyssa Daugherty, Zimmerman G, sophomore: Daugherty was only two assists away from recording a triple-double for No. 9-3A Zimmerman in its 80-52 victory over Milaca. She finished with 32 points, 10 steals and eight assists.

Mariah Sexe, East Ridge C, senior: Sexe had 25 points and 13 rebounds to lead East Ridge over Burnsville 83-55.

Meleah Reinhart, New Ulm G, senior: Reinhart posted 30 points and five assists for New Ulm in a 69-54 win over Willmar. She leads the state with her 31.2 points-per-game average.
