A one-point nailbiter is certainly one way to start the season.
Andover scored with less than five seconds to play in the second half to earn a 63-62 win over New Prague to open the Breakdown USA Tip-Off Classic at the Hopkins High School Lindbergh Center on Saturday morning.
The Huskies were led in scoring by senior guard Tacheny Ruprecht, who dropped 11 points in the first half en route to a 16-point performance. Fellow senior guards Jolene Daninger and Amanda Dagostino each added 13 points in the win for the Huskies (2-0). Daninger has committed to play at DePaul next year.
Senior forward and Winona State commit Taylor Hustad scored a game-high 18 points in the loss for New Prague (2-2), with senior guard and Minnesota-Duluth commit Maizie Deihl adding 13.
