Off-balance buzzer beater Eng's only bucket of the game

When Braham star Rebekah Dahlman fouled out with 1:02 remaining and the Bombers trailing Providence Academy, her team's hopes appeared to be fading.  But reserve Austyn Eng came off the bench to make quite an impact. As the final seconds ticked off the clock, Eng gathered in an offense rebound and pushed in an off-balance set shot to give Braham a 46-45 victory over the Lions at the Breakdown Sports Tip Off Classic in Hopkins.

"Just the way I drew it up," laughed Braham coach Tim Malone.

Eng, the Bombers' sixth player, was forced back onto the court with just over a minute left when Dahlman picked up her fifth foul.  She admitted to being a role player who takes a back seat to Rebekah (16 points) and Hannah Dahlman (15).  But her only bucket of the game certainly made her an instant hero.

"I knew I had to shoot it, but I didn't know if I should drive and try to get the foul or just shoot it," said Eng.  "It was awkward."

Providence Academy had a balanced scoring attack, led by Kelsey Wiebusch (9), Ann Marie Healy (8), Katie Nordick (7) and Nathalie Ratliff (7).

Eng only made one basket in the game, but it was the most important one of all.  With the clock winding down and Braham trailing by one, she gathered in an offensive rebound and pushed an off-balance set shot toward the rim from about 10 feet out.  It dropped in as the buzzer sounded, giving the Bombers a 46-45 victory.
