Jan. 22: The Royals and Skippers are both 2-0 in league play and meet for the first time this season on Friday.

In the first of two regular-season meetings this year, Hopkins travels to Minnetonka on Friday night for a Lake Conference showdown between ranked teams.

Hopkins' 76-48 blowout loss to St. Michael-Albertville on Dec. 8 seems like so long ago now, especially with how the Royals (14-1, 2-0), ranked No. 1 in Class 4A by Minnesota Basketball News, have been playing since suffering the lone blemish on the defending state champs' record.

In the 10 straight victories since stumbling to the No. 3-4A Knights, Hopkins continues to destroy teams, with an average margin of victory of nearly 30 points. The Royals are averaging 74.4 points per game while only giving up 48.6 ppg during the winning streak.

After a 3-3 start, the No. 7-4A Skippers (12-3, 2-0) have gone on an impressive stretch of their own, with nine straight wins after a 76-69 road loss to St. Michael-Albertville.

No longer in the same section, the regular-season matchups between these Lake Conference rivals will mean even more now, which makes Friday's clash between Hopkins and Minnetonka our Top Game of the Week.
