Dec. 22: The Knights have ended the Elks' season in the Class 4A, Section 8 playoffs four of the last five years.

Plenty of Division I basketball talent will be on display when Elk River (5-1), ranked No. 6 in Class 4A by Minnesota Basketball News, heads to No. 5-4A St. Michael-Albertville (6-1) in what could be a preview of the Class 4A, Section 8 championship game later this season.

Big games between the teams have been a common thread recently. The Knights have victories over the Elks in the section finals the past three years.

A fine contest is in store on Dec. 22 with each team possessing offensive prowess.

St. Michael-Albertville features Rae Johnson (scoring 18.0 points per game) and Sydney Tracy (18.4 ppg), who are headed to Iowa State and South Dakota State, respectively, as well as Kitri Zezza (13.3 ppg), a Minnesota-Crookston commit.

Elk River is led by Northwestern-bound Abi Scheid, who is averaging 19.8 ppg, but the Elks also get double-digit scoring from Gabi Haack (16.5 ppg) and Ava Kramer (10.5 ppg).

Loads of prospects on two top teams in Class 4A combined with a recent history of meaningful games makes this our Top Game of the Week.
