APPLE VALLEY, MN- Eastview High School Girls Basketball Coach Melissa Guebert has resigned her position as head coach to allow her the opportunity to spend more time with her family. During her four years as head coach she had an incredible record of 115-13. She led her team to three South Suburban Conference Championships and four straight State Tournament Appearances, finishing 4th, 3rd, State Champion in 2013-14 and State Runner-up this past March. She will remain in her current position as a Reading Recovery teacher at Greenleaf Elementary and she and her husband Dan will enjoy watching their two daughters and one son continue their basketball careers at the high school and collegiate levels. The search for a new head coach will begin immediately and all interested candidates should submit their application to Athletics Director Matt Percival by Friday, May 15th.
Here is some of what Coach Guebert shared with families of the basketball program about her decision to resign after meeting with current players on Wednesday afternoon.
My passion for basketball will be with me always, but I am looking forward to sharing more time with my family. The past four seasons have been truly amazing! I have greatly appreciated the support given to me from the Eastview administration, teachers, coaches and community. Coaching at Eastview has given me incredible memories and I am grateful for having the opportunity to coach great players, both past and present and work with top-notch coaches throughout the state of Minnesota. I am very thankful to have had the opportunity to lead and be a part of such an outstanding program.
I want to extend a very special thanks to my Assistant Coaches as without all of you, our program would not have been as successful. Lastly, thank you to our Eastview parents who have positively supported our program every step of the way and developed a first class Booster Club.
