The Northwest Suburban Conference has provided plenty of exciting matchups this season, and this week is no different as Park Center travels to Elk River in our Top Game of the Week.

Park Center is ranked No. 2 in Class 3A by the Minnesota Basketball News, boasting an offensive attack that does not have any glaring holes.

The Pirates have four players who can score in bunches, with sophomore forward Mikayla Hayes leading the way. Hayes has done it all down low for the Pirates, averaging 14.5 points and 8.2 rebounds per game.

Park Center (13-5, 4-2) remained in second place in the Northwest Suburban's West Division after a gut-wrenching 47-45 loss to Maple Grove on Jan. 30, and the Pirates must get back to their winning ways to hang have a shot at the No. 1 seed in Section 3.

No. 5-4A Elk River counters Hayes in the paint with junior center Abi Scheid, who averages 17.6 points per game and is a force around the basket.

The Elks, who are jostling with St. Michael-Albertville for a top seed in Section 8, had their 13-game winning streak snapped with a 78-73 loss at No. 4-4A Minnetonka on Jan. 29. Elk River rebounded nicely and took over sole possession of first place the the North Division with a 59-53 win over Andover on Jan. 30.
