There's more at stake than league records when Edina meets Lake Conference rival Hopkins. The teams are also Section 6 opponents and ranked among the best in Class 4A.

What more could you want in a game?

Edina hasn’t made a trip to the state tournament since 2012, but the Hornets seemed primed to end the drought. They are 8-2 and ranked No. 4 in Class 4A by Minnesota Basketball News.

Edina's losses have been by one point each to quality opponents in Lakeville South and No. 10-4A Shakopee.

No. 2-4A Hopkins is 11-1 and flying high after handing No. 1-4A Eastview its first loss with a decisive 68-55 victory over the Lightning in the St. Olaf Holiday Classic championship game on Dec. 31.

The Royals haven’t lost at home since Dec. 17, 2013 and swept the regular-season series with the Hornets last season.

With conference standings, section seedings and state rankings on the line, this is our pick for the Top Game of the Week.
