CHASE COLEY

Minneapolis Washburn, senior forward

Star Tribune Metro Player of the Year. The daughter of former college players, the 6-3 Coley averaged nearly a triple-double at 24.4 points, 18.4 rebounds and 9.4 blocks per game. The Iowa recruit led Washburn to back-to-back state tournament berths. Her wingspan is longer than she is tall, allowing her to become the leading shot-blocker in Minnesota history. She swatted 273 shots this season and has 856 and counting for her career.

KENISHA BELL

Bloomington Kennedy, senior guard

Exceptionally quick and creative in the open floor and always looking to run, she paced the Eagles to the Class 4A, Section 2 championship. The Marquette recruit averages 18.3 points, 7.0 assists, 6.0 steals and 5.0 rebounds per game. Her explosive first step makes her difficult to defend one-on-one.

MADISON GUEBERT

Eastview, junior guard

The 5-10 Guebert is not the typical shooting guard. Able to score from beyond the three-point line, she also has the quickness to create off the dribble and the strength to finish in the lane. At 22 points per game, she led the Lightning to a 28-1 record and the No. 1 seed in Class 4A.

SYDNEY LAMBERTY

Park of Cottage Grove, senior guard

The leading girls’ scorer in school history with 2,275 career points, second at Park to former Gopher Sam Jacobson. An intelligent rebounder, can score inside and outside and excels in transition. Despite all of her points, the Creighton signee is a team-first leader who is equally good on defense.

CAYLA MCMORRIS

Park Center, senior guard

Poised and always in control, McMorris impresses with her silky-smooth style and her decision-making in transition. She led Park Center to its first state tournament appearance, averaging nearly 22 points. Her future college coach, Wisconsin’s Bobbie Kelsey, called McMorris a “program-changer.”

How the team was selected

The Star Tribune’s All-Metro teams and Metro Player of the Year were chosen based on nominations from metro-area coaches, conversations with a panel of coaches and staff observations.
