Mirabelle Berthoumieux played in all 26 regular season games for Cretin-Derham Hall. She averaged 4.9 points per game in a reserve role for the Raiders.

Then came Wednesday's Section 3AAAA quarterfinal game against Eagan.

When the Raiders got off to a sluggish start, Berthoumieux came off the bench and brought Cretin-Derham Hall to life.

She finished with 11 points, tying a season-high, in the Raiders' 58-42 win over the Wildcats (7-20).

"We started off slow, but I think we just came together and started running our plays, found the open player," Berthoumieux said.

The senior guard has been coming off the bench all season, but helping her team when needed, and the Raiders (18-9) needed her more than ever.

But Cretin-Derham Hall coach Jodi Loeblein-Lecker has been relying on different players rising to the occasion all season.

"In any given game … somebody has stepped up big," Loeblein-Lecker said. "They've had big games, and it hasn't been the same consistent player each game, so that's made us hard to guard."

Berthoumieux seemed to be the hardest one for the Wildcats to guard on Wednesday, using her speed and quickness off the dribble to create space, finding open teammates and laying some shots off of the glass herself. She also fought for rebounds remarkably well for being listed at just 5-foot-5.

She's essentially been the Swiss army knife for Cretin-Derham Hall.

"Belle's been a real big spark plug whether she's started in the game or whether she's come off the bench," Loeblein-Lecker said. "She does great defensively, she controls the ball, she looks to score and she's a nice player for us."

No. 3 seed Cretin-Derham Hall has won 10 straight and will face either Apple Valley or Park of Cottage Grove on Saturday night.

What do the Raiders need to do to keep things rolling?

"Execute and be confident," Loeblein-Lecker said.
