Senior guard Hannah Grim didn’t leave any doubt about who is Rosemount’s all-time leading scorer in girls’ basketball.

Grim broke her own single-game scoring record with a 38-point performance in a 67-50 setback at the hands of Class 4A, No. 1 Eastview in a South Suburban Conference matchup on Jan. 7. She has the four highest-scoring games in school history.

In the process, Grim became the school’s all-time leading scorer with 1,436 points. She broke the previous mark of 1,401 career points set by Amber Connor from 2001-06.

“Hannah has had an outstanding career,” Rosemount coach Chris Orr said. “What separates her from others and makes her individual accolades that much more special is that in this day in age a lot of athletes specialize and pick one sport, where she competes in three [five-time state meet participant in cross-country and track], and in all three she competes at the highest of levels and is successful.”

Grim, who is averaging 24.6 points per game for the 4-6 Irish, is headed to Marquette. She carries a 3.8 GPA.

“She is a true example of someone who set some goals and put in the time and dedication to accomplish some of her goals and some are still out there,” Orr said.

“I know that she wants to accomplish one more goal more than anything, and that is to win. She’s competitive in everything she does.”

Close calls

The New Prague boys’ hockey team knows how to rise to the occasion when the game is on the line. Five times this season, coach Chris Lonke has watched his squad score in the final two minutes to either win a game or force overtime.

The most recent last-second heroics came when junior defenseman Casey Busch scored with 30 seconds remaining to give the Trojans a 2-1 victory over Class 1A, No. 6 Mankato West.

New Prague (10-2-2) followed that with a 3-2 victory over Holy Angels, with senior forward Austin Isaacson scoring the winner with a little less than four minutes left.

The Trojans have won six one-goal games on the season.

Top performances

• Farmington sophomore forward John Siebenaler scored two goals, the last coming with 59 seconds remaining as the Tigers edged Chanhassen 3-2 in a Missota Conference boys’ hockey matchup Thursday. Siebenaler is Farmington’s leading goal scorer with 13.

• Lakeville South goaltender Chloe Crosby stopped all 24 shots she faced in a 1-0 victory over Apple Valley in South Suburban Conference girls’ hockey last Thursday. The sophomore has stopped 98 shots and allowed only five goals in her past five games.
