Ali Greene

Mahtomedi • basketball

Coming off a 4-21 record last season, Ali Greene and her teammates were determined to improve this season.

The early-season results are encouraging.

The 6-foot-1 junior forward averaged 24.3 points, 14.3 rebounds and six steals as the Zephyrs opened the season with three consecutive victories.

“The thing this year is we have a different attitude,” said Greene. “We put in a lot of work over the summer. We haven’t won a lot and we wanted to have a different mind-set this season. We were sick of losing.”

Greene, who averaged 19.5 points per game last season, scored 27 in the Zephyrs’ season-opening 68-52 victory over St. Louis Park. She had 21 points in a 66-58 victory over St. Anthony and 23 in a 56-43 victory over St. Paul Johnson.

“I’m trying to be a better outside shooter,” Greene said. “I worked extra this summer on my guard skills, outside shooting and shooting off the dribble.”
