The end of the Mound-Westonka girls' basketball team's 11-game losing streak -- a 75-74 victory over Glencoe-Silver Lake on Saturday -- coincided with the emergence of junior guard Victoria Anderson.

The White Hawks trailed 72-69 in the final minute when Anderson was fouled while attempting a three-pointer.

She made all three free throws to tie the game, but Glencoe-Silver Lake regained the lead 74-72 on a basket by forward Clarissa Ober.

Enter Anderson one more time. Again finding herself with the ball in her hands and her team trailing, she nailed a game-winning three-pointer as time ran out for the victory.

Anderson finished with a season-high 25 points, her second consecutive game scoring at least 20 points.

Skippers seek a three-peat

Forward and senior captain Amy Peterson scored four goals and added an assist for the Skippers.

Starr shines for DeLaSalle

Tyseanna Johnson has received more publicity, but DeLaSalle teammate Allina Starr has been putting up some consistently impressive numbers.

Last week, for instance, Starr had 22 points, 15 assists, eight rebounds and seven steals in an 86-30 rout of St. Paul Academy. The senior guard, who signed with Auburn in November, followed that performance with 18 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists and four steals as the Islanders defeated Superior (Wis.) 77-61.

For the season, Starr averages nearly a triple-double: 19.2 points, 9.1 rebounds and 9.1 assists per game.
