Lions shut down large-school Storm, 53-29
Providence Academy showed it has plenty remaining after last year's Class AA state championship, swarming big-school Chanhassen, 53-29 in the Breakdown Tip Off Classic at Hopkins' Lindbergh Center. The Lions' suffocating defense shut down the Storm, racing out to a 23-15 halftime lead and extending it from there.
Sophomore Ashley Borland paced the Lions' offense with 15 points, including a quartet of three-pointers. Leah Szabla added 13 points and Nathalie Ratliff had 11 points.
Lauren Shifflett was the only Chanhassen player with a double-digit night, scoring 14 points.
