Trailing at halftime, Maranatha Christian stormed past Staples-Motley with a big second-half rally, winning 65-53 at the Breakdown's Tip Off Classic at Hopkins' Lindbergh Center.

The Mustangs, the top-ranked team in Class A, were down 37-33 at the break as Staples-Motley was in control. But Maranatha turned up its defensive intensity after halftime, allowing just 16 second-half points. It was a balanced scoring effort from the Mustangs, as Madison Lee (13 points), Alaina Jarnot (12), Chynna Stull (10), Lexi Lee (9) and Onye Osemenam (8) all contributed to the rally.

Staples-Motley also had a balanced attack, as Kyann Nyhus and Jasmine McGillivray had nine points each and Kaitlin Spar and Mackenzie Holst scored eight apiece.
