The Star Tribune's All-Metro teams for the 2011-2012 season

Clockwise from bottom left: Jackie Johnson, Eden Prairie; Marissa Janning, Watertown-Mayer; Shayne Mullaney, Eden Prairie; Tessa Cichy, Hill Murray and Nia Coffey, Hopkins. Carlos Gonzalez, Star Tribune

JACKIE JOHNSON

Johnson

Eden Prairie | 6-2 | Senior | Forward

The power forward scored in double figures in every game this season en route to a 17.7 average. Her length and grit serve her well inside, where she averages nearly 10 rebounds per game and routinely alters or blocks opponents' shots in the lane. She committed to Minnesota before the season began.

SHAYNE MULLANEY

Mullaney

Eden Prairie | 5-10 | Senior | Guard

An excellent pull-up shooter who is strong with the ball and has an innate court sense, Mullaney plays with a maturity and determination. Has a chance to crack the Gophers' starting lineup next year as a freshman. She led Eden Prairie in scoring at 17.8 points per game and is the school's career leader in assists.

MARISSA JANNING

Janning

Watertown-Mayer | 5-8 | Senior | Guard

The Metro Player of the Year can take over games, whether shooting from outside, driving to the basket or distributing from the point. Being lefthanded makes her even more difficult to defend. She became the ninth Minnesota girl to surpass the 3,000-career point mark this season. Her total of 3,587 is fourth in state history. Signed with Creighton.

TESSA CICHY

Cichy

Hill-Murray | 5-10 | Senior | Guard

Cichy elevated her game in the absence of graduated center Bethany Doolittle. Cichy averaged a career-high 22 points per game, highlighted by a 51-point effort in a four-overtime victory over Mahtomedi. A true inside-outside player, she is equally adept at rugged play in the lane or stepping out and facing the basket. Undecided on a college.

NIA COFFEY

Coffey

Hopkins | 6-0 | Junior | Guard

Coffey is perhaps the most athletic player on the first team. She's another lefty, with the leaping ability to jump over opponents and the quickness to go around them. Her long arms gives opposing offenses fits. She lead the Royals in scoring, averaging 16.4 points per game. Has committed to Northwestern. Her dad is former Gophers forward Richard Coffey.

SECOND TEAM

• Whitney Tinjum | Chisago Lakes | 5-11 | Senior | Guard: 2,000-point career scorer is Washington State-bound, avg. 24.6 ppg.

• Alexis Foley | White Bear Lake | 5-10 | Senior | Guard: Gritty leader is a force on offense and defense.

• KatyBeth Biewen | Edina | 5-9 | Senior | Guard: Carried the Hornets when M.C. McGrory was injured.

• Jessica January | Richfield | 5-8 | Junior | Guard: Next-to-impossible to guard, averaged 22 points per game.

• Tyseanna Johnson | DeLaSalle | Junior | Forward: Dynamic wing player, can score inside or outside.

THIRD TEAM

• Marissa Grossfeld | Wayzata | Senior | Forward

• Anna Rynda | New Prague | Senior | Forward

• Phillis Webb | Osseo | Junior | Forward

• Sydney Coffey | Hopkins | Senior | Guard

• Whitney Olson | Cambridge-Isanti | Senior | Guard
