Bulldogs fall short in comeback against Silverstreaks

Last Friday, the Swanville Bulldogs played their home opener when they hosted the Osakis Silverstreaks. Despite coming out slow in the first half, Swanville put together a nice second half to make it a game but ended up falling 64-53.

Going into halftime, the Swanville girls were down 38-20. The second half went much better as they outscored Osakis 33-26.

“We came out very timid in the first half,” head coach Aaron Gapinski said. “We need to play with confidence from the get go.”

Lexi Loven, Molly Jordan, and Tiffany Barthel all stepped up in the second half scoring 23 points combined.

“We made some adjustments at half and the girls really stepped up their play,” Gapinski said. “We did a better job communicating, especially on defense.”

The Bulldogs were able to cut the lead to seven midway through the second half and kept it there until they made some free throws late in the game.

“We need to continue playing as a  team, helping each other out,” Gapinski said.

The Bulldogs will get another shot at their first conference win when they travel to Eagle Valley on Thursday.
