Thunder struggle against Cardinals' tough full court pressure

The Thunder played their first conference game of the season when they traveled to Upsala to take on the Cardinals on Friday.

The Cardinals put on full court pressure from the very start of the game which held the Thunder in check throughout the game as they fell 64-34.

Upsala’s full court pressure caused problems for the Thunder guards and they struggled to get into their half court offense. This allowed the Cardinals to blow open the game with a 25-0 run.

Coach Christians emphasized they will need to work on their ball handling after the game.

“Just like Tuesday’s game, turnovers played a big part of our game as we finished with 29 turnovers which led to 48 transition points for Upsala,” he said. “We need to take better care of the ball and limit the transition points.”

Langer led the way for the Thunder with nine points and 13 rebounds. Zastrow finished with eight points and six rebounds.

The Thunder will have a chance to bounce back after this week when they travel to St. John’s Prep on Thursday and host Sauk Centre on Friday.
