No. 4-1A Goodhue at No. 2-2A Kenyon-Wanamingo
6 p.m., Friday, Jan. 24

Two of the best small-school southern Minnesota teams square off Friday night when Goodhue travels to Kenyon-Wanamingo. Goodhue has missed the state tournament the past two years after three straight trips, but coach Josh Wieme’s team is a favorite to end that streak. The school’s all-time leading scorer, Mikayla Miller, anchors a veteran team that also has seniors Mikayla Tipcke, Meredith Watson and Kali Ryan. Miller is a dynamic player who is athletically gifted and can score in numerous ways. Kenyon-Wanamingo is also hoping to return to state for the first time since 2001. The Knights have lost just once (to Carlie Wagner and NRHEG) this year and are paced by a host of Clarks (Meg and Audra) and Quams (Megan and Mara).
