No. 10-3A Alexandria at No. 1-3A Fergus Falls
7:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 17

In contrast to the No. 2 game of the week, this one does feature plenty of history and section and conference implications. Fergus Falls is the bully on the block in both the Central Lakes Conference and Section 8AAA, going unbeaten through the regular season last year with a formidable lineup anchored by North Dakota-bound scorer Bailey Strand, UM-Duluth-bound forward Ana Monke and 6-foot point guard Brianna Rasmusson, who is headed to North Dakota State for volleyball. Alexandria nearly upset the Otters in last year’s section final with a “no stars” approach from coach Wendy Kohler. That's not to say there isn’t talent. Senior Amanda Christianson is tough matchup in the backcourt and Crookston transfer Brooke Heggie adds size in the post.
