DeLaSalle vs. Holy Angels

7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 9

This rematch carries massive implications given DeLaSalle defeated Holy Angels once this season to take a one-game lead in the Tri-Metro Conference West Division standings.

If the Islanders win again, they will be on their way to the Tri-Metro West title. But the outcome of this game reaches beyond the league, as both teams are perennial Class 3A state title contenders. The winner of Friday's regular-season showdown will have an edge in state tournament seeding — should both reach the event at which a rematch is possible.

The Stars (18-3, 2-1) held a higher state ranking before being upset by the Islanders 61-55 on Jan. 19. Holy Angels' Megan Meyer scored 13 points that night, and she'll need to put up big numbers to overcome the Islanders as the No. 4-3A Stars look for payback.

DeLaSalle's Dacoda Speidel led all scorers with 14 points in the victory that helped the No. 3-3A Islanders (12-4, 3-0) extend their winning streak to 12 games. She and Nora Francois (11.2 ppg) remain the team's one-two punch.
