Holy Angels vs. DeLaSalle

7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 19

The Tri-Metro Conference West Division has been dominated by Holy Angels and DeLaSalle the past few years.

The Stars won the division the last two seasons behind back-to-back undefeated campaigns. They last lost a conference game in February 2015, falling to DeLaSalle 60-56.

Holy Angels (14-2) is looking to continue its dominance in Tri-Metro this season, and the Stars begin league play Friday with a visit to the rival Islanders.

In the two victories against DeLaSalle last season, Destinee Oberg averaged 22.5 points per game. If she maintains that output, Holy Angels should be on its way to another win.

While it's been two seasons since DeLaSalle last upended Holy Angels, this could be the year the Islanders return to the top of the standings and replicate their finish from 2015 -- when they won the division after finishing the conference season with an 8-0 record.

DeLaSalle (6-4, 1-0) ended last week with an impressive 66-44 victory over Grand Rapids. Olivia Travis finished with a team-high 20 points while Nora Francois added 12 and Ayanna Gardner had 11 to help the Islanders extend their winning streak to six games. They could make it eight in a row with two victories this week, including one against the Stars on Friday.
