Willmar vs. Hutchinson

7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 2

Willmar has yet to lose a game this season, yet it remains near the bottom of the top 10 in Class 3A, which sets up an opportunity for the Cardinals (8-0, 3-0) to take advantage of Hutchinson, which is trying to gain some traction after surrendering its fourth loss of the season.

The No. 9-3A Cardinals have a balanced attack with seven players averaging more than five points per game. Their defense has been shut-down as well, holding opponents to an average of 49.75 points per game.

Hutchinson’s offense has had a different approach. MaKenzie Rensch averages 21.7 points per game. While she leads the Tigers (7-4) by far, they have five other players who average five or more points per game, so others are capable of supplementing Rensch's production.

The No. 8-3A Tigers, who have lost three of their last five games, will need additional help to aid Rensch if they're to defeat a surging Willmar squad that's looking to climb the rankings.
