Maranatha vs. Wayzata

7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 3

Maranatha, ranked No. 3 in Class 2A, travels to No. 3-4A Wayzata on Wednesday for a cross-class battle that features a chance to sustain momentum before diving into the heart of conference play.

The Trojans (12-0, 2-0) offense has been multifaceted this season with Kallie Theisen leading her team with 14 points per game. Though Theisen's had plenty of help with four different players having scored 18 points or more in a single game.

Heading into Wednesday's clash, the Mustangs (4-2) will have played only seven games on the season, compared to Wayzata, which will have played 12, so Maranatha is more rested but not as battle-tested.

If the Mustangs are going to have a chance against one of the best teams in the state, they’ll need big performances from their dynamic duo of Jaclyn Jarnot and Kylie Post. Together, they’ve averaged 37.4 points per game this season.
