Goodhue vs. Hayfield

It’s been more than a month since Hayfield beat Goodhue 46-34. Since then, the Wildcats (16-2, 8-1) have won 11 straight games, including a 54-49 overtime thriller against No. 6-1A Lyle/Austin Pacelli on Jan. 7. 

Goodhue trails Hayfield by two wins in the Hiawatha Valley League Blue Division standings and will try to inch closer to the top spot behind Sydney Lodermeier (15.3 ppg) and Maddy Miller (14.5 ppg). Lodermeier scored 14 points and Miller added 12 in the No. 2-1A Wildcats' 64-47 win over Stewartville on Jan. 27.

The No. 9-2A Vikings (15-3, 10-1) bounced back from a 47-43 loss to No. 4-3A Kasson-Mantorville on Jan. 24 with quality wins over Byron (75-64) on Jan. 27 and Rochester Lourdes (69-64) on Jan. 28. Maggie Streightiff led Hayfield with 21 points and Carrie Rutledge added 20 in the victory over Rochester Lourdes. Olivia Matti also reached double figures in scoring with 14 points.
