Southwest Christian vs. Maranatha Christian Academy
7:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 19

Maranatha Christian Academy spent the early part of the season playing some of the toughest competition it could find, and as a result, the No. 2-1A Mustangs' record suffered.

The team's confidence, however, has not taken a beating, as the Mustangs still have designs on another run to the Class 1A state tournament, where they lost in the championship game a year ago.

Jaclyn Jarnot (16.2 points and 10.2 rebounds per game) leads Maranatha (7-4, 3-0) into its next challenge against quality Minnesota Christian Athletic Association foe Southwest Christian on Thursday.

The Stars (8-2, 2-1) rebounded from back-to-back losses with a three-game winning streak last week. Elizabeth Schwarz had 16 points while Sydney Beard and Lilly Schwen each had 13 and Brenna Krommendyk had 10 in a 67-43 win over New Life Academy on Jan. 13.

A Southwest Christian win could break a logjam in the conference standings, where five teams begin the week at 2-1 in league play and trail the Mustangs, who have a 3-0 record.
