Elk River vs. Centennial
7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 12

Despite being one of the more successful programs, Elk River has not reached the state tournament in recent years. The Elks have ended the past four seasons with a loss to St. Michael-Albertville in the Class 4A, Section 8 championship game, but that could change this season.

Enter Gabi Haack. The Bradley commit is averaging a state-leading 30.3 points per game and has a strong chance to lead Elk River (10-0, 3-0) back to the state tournament for the first time since 2006. But she isn't shouldering the entire load, as the Elks are getting 11.1 ppg from Ava Kramer and 10.2 ppg from Sidney Wentland.

Centennial (11-1, 3-0) reached the state tournament in 2014 and 2015, and appears to be a favorite to make it this season behind a balanced offense.

Sara Stapleton is leading the Cougars at 15 ppg, while Sydney Stapleton is averaging 11.2 ppg and Taylor McAulay is putting up 10 ppg.
