New Prague vs. Kasson-Mantorville
7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 3

New Prague’s record shouldn’t fool anyone, considering the schedule the Trojans have played.

They went 1-3 in games against No. 2-4A Eastview, No. 7-4A Lakeville North, No. 1-4A Hopkins and No. 2-2A Plainview-Elgin-Millville before the end of December. The only game that was a blowout was a 77-58 loss to Hopkins while the victory was a 56-43 win over Plainview-Elgin-Millville, one that helped New Prague (6-5) take some momentum into the new year.

The Trojans also recorded a 54-46 overtime win against a quality Anoka squad on Dec. 29 behind the play of Taylor Hustad, who scored a game-high 21 points.

Maizie Deihl leads the Trojans at 17.6 points per game.

Kasson-Mantorville’s Kristin Scott became her school’s all-time leading scorer on Dec. 22 in a 63-48 win over Zumbrota-Mazeppa.

Perhaps more importantly, the Iowa State recruit helped engineer a 54-33 win over section rival Winona on Dec. 28 and extend her team's winning streak to four games. She finished with 22 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Komets past the No. 3-3A Winhawks in a rematch of last year's Class 3A, Section 1 championship.
