Hayfield vs. Goodhue
7:15 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 13

This Hiawatha Valley League series has been one of the more competitive rivarlies in southern Minnesota through the years. Last season, Goodhue escaped with a 47-45 victory in the first meeting but lost the second 61-40.

Hayfield finished a 20-8 season with a loss to Dover-Eyota in the Class 2A, Section 1 semifinals. The Vikings (2-1, 2-0) return Maggie Streightiff, who averaged 11.3 points last season, and Kate Krueger (6.9 ppg, 5.5 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game) last year.

The Wildcats (5-1, 2-0) dropped from the top spot in the Class 1A rankings to No. 3 following a 78-34 loss to now No. 1-1A Mountain Iron-Buhl, but they respond with victories over Blooming Prairie and Byron in back-to-back games last week.

Maddy Miller (16.3 ppg) and Sydney Lodermeier (16 ppg) lead Goodhue in scoring. Mariah Tipcke had 12 points in her club's 76-29 victory over Blooming Prairie.
