Champlin Park vs. Centennial
7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 13

It’s been three years since Champlin Park and Centennial met for the Class 4A, Section 5 championship, but both appear to be contenders for the section title this season.

The Rebels (3-1) won both meetings a year ago and could be in position to sweep their Northwest Suburban Conference North Division rival behind offensive weapons Erica Hicks (17.8 ppg), Allison Gerads (12.5) and Gabby Mocchi (10.5).

The No. 3-4A Cougars are on a four-game winning streak, including a 64-44 win over No. 4-3A Alexandria on Dec. 3, and feature senior Sarah Grow.

The Minnesota-Duluth recruit averages 7 ppg and hasn't needed to shoulder the scoring load with sophomores Sara Stapleton (12.7 ppg) and Taylor McAulay (10.3), and juniors Sydney Stapleton (10) and Claire Orth (10) off to solid starts. They give Centennial the appearance of a squad well-equipped for a postseason run.
