White Bear Lake vs. Lakeville North
7:15 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 1

All-state selection Temi Carda has Lakeville North primed for another big season, one that has the No. 5-4A Panthers eying another state tournament appearance.

Carda averaged 15.1 points per game to lead Lakeville North to a 24-6 record a year ago, and the Creighton commit has helped her team start 2-0 this season as the Panthers have been impressive on both ends -- rolling to victories with a defense that has held both opponents under 50 points.

White Bear Lake looks to buck that trend, particularly after its recent 62-31 loss to Eastview, when it travels deep into the south metro on Thursday.

That loss should serve as a wake-up call for the Bears (1-1), who went 23-9 and finished fourth in last year’s Class 4A state tournament.

White Bear Lake relied on its depth a season ago, routinely dividing the minutes between 12 players. The Bears, however, may need a strategy shift after graduating 10 seniors and will look to players such as senior Alexa Molin (7.2 ppg last year) to help shoulder the load.
