Osakis vs. Albany
7:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 2

Osakis won’t be a sleeper in Class 2A, Section 6 after going 26-3 last year, but defeating the section's perennial powers -- Sauk Centre and Albany -- to get to state tournament will be exceedingly difficult.

The Sliverstreaks lost twice to Sauk Centre last year, including in the section semifinals -- a game third-seeded Osakis reached after upsetting second-seeded Albany in the quarterfinals.

The Silverstreaks, however, seem to be in position to challenge for a section title despite graduating three seniors with a group of strong returners led by Alecia Kaelke, who finished with team-highs in rebounding and shooting percentage a year ago.

Albany features two scoring threats in Erin Navratil (14.5 ppg last season) and Madison Schmitz (14.2 ppg).

The Huskies finished 24-4 and rattled off 13 straight wins before losing in the section playoffs. Albany capped a six-year run to the state tournament with a championship in 2008 but has not been back since.
