Hermantown vs. Esko
Noon, Thursday, Dec. 1

Esko has won at least 26 games in each of the last six years and will rely on players like Ava Gonsorowski to extend the streak.

Gonsorowski averaged 16.5 points per game and was all-state honorable mention honoree from an Eskomos team that finished 26-4 after falling in the Class 2A, Section 7 championship last season.

The loss kept Esko from reaching its third consecutive state tournament, and the No. 6-2A Eskomos begin their quest for another this season with a game against a Hermantown team fresh off a 21-7 season.

The Hawks came away with a nine-point victory in last season’s meeting, but saw their season end in the Class 3A, Section 7 semifinals.

Hermantown returns two players who could lead it to not only the section finals but also the state tournament, as senior Jordyn Thomas (16 ppg) and junior Taylor Vold (8.9 ppg) give the Hawks a solid frontcourt.
